Sickness, Showers, and Laughs All in One Week

You are wrapping up your 11th week of life. My my how you are growing! This week you got your first cold. You started getting sick on Monday and it just progressed each day. You have been congested in your chest for the past few weeks but it hadn't progressed to anything beyond that. Now the congestion lent itself to a runny and stuffy nose. You then proceeded to develop a cough. I started giving you showers in the morning and evening to help clear you up. I stayed home with you on Wednesday so that you didn't have to go to daycare since you were getting progressively worse. Fortunately, your cold didn't develop into anything serious. Although you still have the runny nose and congestion, you seem to be feeling okay and I hope you kick it this week.

Despite your cold all week you were in really good spirits for the most part. The main time that you could tell that you were sick was when it was time for you to go to sleep or after first waking up. During one of your bouts of fussiness from being sick, I surprisingly got to hear your first laugh. Tuesday Jessica was watching you and I had come home to feed you. As I was getting ready to head out the door and go back to work, you started crying as she was getting ready to change your diaper - something that is very uncommon for you. So I walked over to your changing table to try and cheer you up. Your face lit up when it saw me and I started to tickle and play with you. You smiled and did your usual cooing that you do when I play with you during diaper time. This time though, you actually let out a few shrieks followed by a short laugh. It was the most delightful sound I have heard in a long time and Jessica and I laughed at hearing yours. This promptly took you aback and you got very serious very fast then turned back to cooing again. Your laughter was sweet music to my ears and I have been trying to get you to do it again ever since, but as of yet no such luck!

This weekend was still fairly busy despite us all getting over being sick (yes you got your Dad and I sick of course). Yesterday we went over to our friends house for a surprise birthday party. You were the life of the party as usual! You were perfectly behaved and were passed around from person to person. There were a lot of people there that hadn't met you yet and were anxious to see you. Then today the weather was beautiful! It was our first day of 90 degree weather for the year. So we packed you up and went out for an Earth Day festival at one of the local nurseries. The festival was complete with music, food, and beer for your Dad. Jake, Jessica, and your Nana went with us. Boy was it hot! But you rocked some jean shorts and your Greenbay Packers hat that your Great Grandma Bev in Wisconsin got you. You slept through most of the festival in the Baby Bjorn. After the festival, we headed over to Solid to eat dinner on the patio with Jake and Jessica. The weather was perfect on the patio in the shade and you enjoyed being outside. I have to go back to work full time tomorrow... I'm not excited about that. I would love to continue working part time to be at home with you, but right now that isn't a reality. I can't believe you are going to be three months next week!
