10 Months Old! Lots of Photos!

You have a lot of photos taken this month...mostly because it is Christmas. But here are a bunch of non Christmas weekend photos.

You and Daddy Sleeping

You in front of the Christmas tree lights - funny thing, you were actually VERY terrified of them and cried when I tossed them over to you. You didn't want anything to do with the tree for quite a long time.

Your first visit to Santa!! The daycare you go to had a holiday party in the evening and Santa made a stop by. You actually weren't that scared - no tears were shed.

You playing with the ornament you made at the daycare Christmas party.

The plate you made at the Christmas party

Your favorite toys - no toys at all.... the dog bowls and the turkey baster.

And coffee mugs as toys...

This is the best ever... you hadn't eaten breakfast yet and so you went over to the cupboard and got the Cheerios box out then threw your hands in the air with excitement over it. You were very proud of yourself!

Your First Haircut

Well this is not the bells and whistles haircut with pictures of you in the barber chair. I cut your hair on my own for the very first time. I started to cut the top on Christmas when I wanted to spike your hair. It was too long to spike so I trimmed it. Then a few days later I decided it looked weird with the rest of it so long, so I trimmed the rest of it myself on Thursday. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. You look older now! In fact many of the teachers commented at the daycare about how big you looked this week. Next time we will take you to the actual barber and get some pictures.

Christmas

Although you were pretty oblivious to the whole Christmas thing this year, it was still wonderful. I got to spend five whole days with you, which incidentally is the most I have had with you since you were born, and it was marvelous and special.

We went to a hockey game Friday night and took our traditional picture by the Christmas tree at the Grove (I am so happy to add you to this tradition that your Dad and I have). On Christmas day since my parents were out of town we had all of your Dad's family over, plus your Uncle Chris and Aunt Megan. We had brunch and opened presents. Then Christmas evening we headed over to your Nana Kay's and Grandpopper's for dinner and more presents. You were pretty uninterested in the presents and even the wrapping paper, which I expected. We did a get a few pics of you opening gifts though.

Uncle Chris feeding you your bottle

This is my new favorite face you make. You wrinkle up your nose and put your lips out. It is hilarious. I am told you learned it from me from multiple people. I was unaware I made this face, but maybe that is why I love it so much!

Your Nana wrapped up a giant box for you to open that just had paper inside. You played with it for a few minutes..

This is the BEAUTIFUL rocking horse that you Great Grandma Bev in Wisconsin bought you for Christmas

Daddy and you putting together the toy that Santa brought you to the house.

Attacking Uncle Grae's head with Daddy!

I tried to get a picture of you and me in your extremely handsome outfit, but every time I did your eyes were closed from the flash.

Walking!

Everyone has been telling me since you were about two months old that you would be walking before your first birthday and they were right. I was sort of thinking to myself that since you were on track with the crawling that you would be the same with walking. Nope, it has come early. Although you aren't proficient in it yet, I think it is safe to say you are doing it. A week after you turned 10 months (about 10 days ago) you walked from me to your Dad and took about six steps. Of course we tried to record this, but the attempts were futile. I did manage to get a video of you taking a few steps to Dad, but they weren't like the good solid steps you took when there was no camera on you. Then this week on Wednesday your Dad and I were both sitting on the couch resting (we were both sick, as were you) and we both managed to look up at the same time only to see you taking steps on your own to get to a toy! Even though it was only about three steps before you fell down, I do still count it since it was all on your own without being coerced. Good job baby boy! In the last day or so you have gotten quite brave and are constantly trying to take more and more steps on your own. I think by Christmas we may have a fairly good little waddler on our hands!

Your First Christmas Tree

I really want to create some Christmas family traditions for us. One of the ones  I have envisioned (probably thanks to Christmas Vacation which is a movie you will one day watch) is to go out into the woods and to pick out our very own Christmas tree. I figured why not start now, so we did! We packed you up into the car with some snacks and set out with Matt and Tina up past Idaho City to go get us a tree. It was two days after Thanksgiving and it hadn’t snowed so it was the perfect time to go because we were able to go up on a usually closed road to pick one out. The trip was a success, and I am ready to do it again next year! You were a trooper and I bet next year will be all the more fun since you will be able to walk along side with us. I was also pretty happy with how our tree turned out. It was so tall that we had to cut the top of it off since it was bent at the top from the ceiling. And we have a TALL ceiling. Sure it is no Christmas lot tree, but you can’t expect that when you go pick one out of the forest and not from a tree farm!

We found this awesome one that was split by being frozen or by lightning

10 Months Old

You have changed so much in the last month!

Things You Are Doing Developmentally Right Now:
* Standing by yourself
* Starting to walk between furniture (you are so close to walking - I think by Christmas you will be!)
* Saying Momma and Dada and using it properly (let the record show you said Mom first!)
* Pushing the toy walkers around the floor

Things That You are Doing That I Love Right Now:
* Going to Dad or I's feet and saying "mom" or "dad" to have us pick you up
* Having you squeal in delight when you beeline for something you aren't supposed to get in to as we chase after you.
* Watching you climb up the stairs (under supervision only)  while you laugh the whole way

A Few Pictures from 9 Months Old

I am behind on your blog because I have been so busy with Christmas stuff. My apologies that read this!! I will be caught up in the next week or so! Here are a few more pictures from 9 months that I haven’t posted yet.

Your Great Grandma Harper got you a wagon just because she loves you THAT much! This is you checking it out and getting a ride in it.

You and your beautiful blue eyes crawling toward me.

What I frequently get to see now - you crawling up to me then getting on your knees and holding on to my leg waiting for me to pick you up!

Cheerio Time!
